John Middleton Elementary School in Skokie hosted their third annual Every Kid Healthy Week Special Event on April 26.

The program aims to help promote wellness among the school’s students in third through fifth grade. This year, the Chicago Bears Mini Monsters program visited the school along with former Bears tight end Jim Thornton.

The week is focused on celebrating efforts the school is making to improve the health and overall wellness of students.

“Promoting health and wellness at an early age sets the foundation to build healthy habits. Healthy minds are more prepared to learn,” said physical education teacher Kerry Santefort in an email. “The earlier we educate children on how to live a healthy lifestyle, the higher chance those students will make healthier choices.”
