Naperville under flash flood watch; rain to continue through Wednesday and into Thursday

Sidewalks on the lower level of the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville covered by water that overflowed the banks of the DuPage River. With rain predicted to fall all day Wednesday and into Thursday, flash flood watches were issued for Naperville and other towns along the river.

A flash flood watch has been issued for Naperville, with some roads already having flooding problems town as of Tuesday afternoon, according to city officials.

Motorists were advised not drive through flood waters, and to consult the live Waze map at www.waze.com/livemap for the latest info on road closures.

With the National Weather Service calling for rain all day Wednesday into Thursday, the Naperville Park District urged people to stay away from the DuPage River, which is very high and has dangerous currents.

The sidewalks along much of the Naperville Riverwalk are under water.
