Speak Out: Graduated tax, climate

A Speak Out commenter gives a view on the graduated tax plan for Illinois. Gov. J.B. Pritzker talks to reporters after signing the state budget and fair tax legislation in Chicago on June 5, 2019.

At Guaranteed Rate Field, the Chicago White Sox have a scoreboard video game of finding the missing ball under rotating Sox caps. Gov. J.B. Pritzker has something similar to that and a carnival shell game with his graduated income tax plan. When the wealthy leave Illinois which is probably a lock, this tax will be then transferred to all middle class state taxpayers. Now you see it, now you don't.

Like many climate change deniers, a recent Palos Hills Speak Out commenter seems unaware of the difference between climate and weather. Yes, weather can change from day to day but climate is weather over a long period of time. If you don't think that humans are at least partially responsible for obvious climatic changes, such as rise in sea levels and severe weather, please put your head back in the sand.

Climate change has been happening since the Earth was created. It's how nature has evolved. But with industrialization, we have sped up climate change. . . Part of our evolution is to get smarter and realize our mistakes and correct them before nature does that for us.
