Illinois lawmakers pass a bill to legalize marijuana. Sure, it has definite benefits. I agree. We all know them. Are officials just praising the drug’s benefits? Why do we forget about its negatives? . . . Legalizing marijuana is great for people who use the drug for medical use or occasional use but people who constantly use or abuse it will cause accidents or worse.

It should be a no-brainer to change the name of the David Webb Jr. Senior Living Complex. David Webb Jr., the former mayor of Markham, has pleaded guilty to corruption charges and provided key testimony for the government at the trial in Chicago’s federal court. The building’s name needs to be changed.

Funny how a writer remembers former Gov. George Ryan’s increase in transportation fees and taxes but not his program for infrastructure improvements across the state. That’s where the new taxes and fees went. They went to directly and indirectly — in the form of bonds — to pay for his program.
