Speak Out: Federal Reserve, school districts

A Speak Out commenter gives a view on the Federal Reserve. In this June 15, 2018 photo, twenty dollar bills are counted in North Andover, Mass.

The Federal Reserve left a key interest rate unchanged despite pressure from President Donald Trump. It is supposed to be independent but it seems like the president keeps trying to interfere with its decisions. This is my first time of hearing of such from our presidents.

More about school districts handing out 5% and 6% raises: The teachers union helped J.B. Pritzker get elected governor. The union, other public-sector unions and Democrats seem to run this state. They seem to control our schools, state and bank accounts in a way. It is ridiculous for my property taxes to jump 10%. The taxes that we have here in Illinois were already among the highest in the country. You are going to see a lot of "for sale" signs going up in this state.

We need more workers at the Department of Children and Family Services because only they can protect children. They could receive help by hiring more people for DCFS cases, but that would take money away from our overinflated pensions. We all know that pensions seem always to come first and children come last.
