Speak Out: Lightfoot, Democrats

Speak Out commenter shares a view on Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Lightfoot displays a photography collection from local artists at her office in the Chicago City Hall on Friday, May 24, 2019.

When she was still mayor-elect of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot went to Washington, D.C. I like her style. She sat down with political parties. Chicago needs a lot of help. They need jobs along with help in controlling crime. Money also is needed for repair of bridges and roads. Most of all, getting help with crime should be the No. 1 priority on her list. Making Chicago beautiful for tourists is one thing but making them safe is another.

Anything that is good for the citizens of this county or a credit to the president will not be supported by them. Just look how long the new trade deal has been sitting in the House and waiting for a vote.

My faith in the future was restored at Tinley Park's recent Village Board meeting. Area seniors accepted scholarships and the Tinley Park High School band was recognized as champions. Others took on public service as the village's future firefighters. Their acceptances were gracious, humble and full of the excitement of their accomplishments.
