Four kids and one adult were injured Thursday night in a fire in the Roseland neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The fire was reported at two houses in the first block of West 109th Place at about 8:25 p.m. Officials had not yet determined what started the blaze.
Five people were transported — one man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, and four children, two boys and two girls, were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital — for smoke inhalation and were stabilized, according to the Fire Department.
There were no working smoke alarms in either building, according to a tweet from the Fire Department.
