Two men have been charged after a Rolls-Royce crashed on the Ontario feeder ramp early Wednesday following a dispute that led to shots fired outside a River North nightclub, according to police.
Levertise Hewing, 32, and Antoine Davis, 36, were arrested after the crash following shots fired in the 300 block of West Huron Street about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, police said in a news release.
Davis was driving the Rolls-Royce from which shots were fired, while Hewing, who was not in the Rolls, got into a dispute with officers near the scene of the crash, according to police. Hewing faces a felony aggravated battery of a police officer charge while Davis faces a felony aggravated assault of a police officer charge and each faces other misdemeanor charges.
A witness told police there was a dispute between people in a white Rolls-Royce and another car in the 300 block of West Erie Street, and shots were fired before the Rolls drove off, police said. Officers responding to the scene saw the Rolls trying to drive up the ramp and tried to stop the car, according to the release.
Davis, the driver, kept going and ignored police commands to stop, then crashed on the ramp. The two people in the Rolls ran away, but Davis was arrested soon after.
While police were investigating the shots fired and the crash of the Rolls, another man, identified as Hewing, got into a dispute with officers and started to fight with a police sergeant and batter the sergeant, police said in the release.
