One person was killed in an early morning crash on the inbound Bishop Ford Expressway in Calumet City, according to Illinois State Police.
About 4 a.m., state police responded to the crash on the inbound Bishop Ford near Sibley Boulevard. A black 2006 Dodge sedan and a white 2003 Freightliner semitrailer collided, according to a news release from state police.
The sedan was heading north in the middle lane when it struck the rear of the slow-moving Freightliner, state police said in the news release.
Randall Moore, 41, the driver of the Dodge, was pronounced dead at the location, authorities said.
Accident reconstructionists were called and all lanes were closed between 159th Street and Sibley Boulevard beginning from about 3:50 a.m. until about 9:30 a.m. Traffic was diverted to 158th during the morning commute.
