Argentine midfielder Favio Alvarez has joined MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy on loan from Atletico Tucuman.

The LA Galaxy announced on Tuesday that they have signed 26-year-old midfielder Favio Alvarez on loan from Argentine side Atletico Tucuman using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). Pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate, Alvarez will join the Galaxy roster and occupy an International Roster Spot.

“Favio is a talented and dynamic attacking player who will be a valuable addition to our roster,” LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese said in a press release. “He has a versatile skillset that will allow him to play multiple positions in our attack. We think he can be a dangerous option for our club this season and we look forward to adding him to the team.”

Alvarez began his soccer career in 2010 in Argentina with Talleres de Cordoba, helping the club earn promotion to the Argentine second division in his third season. After short stints with Defensa y Justicia and Sarmiento de Junin, Alvarez joined Atletico Tucuman in 2016, where he made 56 appearances in all competitions.

Last week, the Galaxy made two trades with Minnesota United FC and Columbus Crew SC, in order to obtain enough TAM to complete the deal for Alvarez. The Galaxy exchanged $225,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for $325,000 TAM with Minnesota and $225,000 in GAM for $300,000 in TAM from Columbus.
